Hisar, January 12, 2022: India’s leading stainless steel producer, Jindal Stainless (Hisar) Limited (JSHL) has bagged the “Energy Conservation Award 2020” at the state-level event organised by HAREDA (Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency). This award is testimony to JSHL’s commitment and innovative efforts towards sustainability and energy conservation in its overall manufacturing process. The Company received this award, along with a cash prize of 50,000/-, from Cabinet Minister, Government of Haryana, Chaudhary Ranjit Singh in the category of Innovation at an event held in Panchkula on January 11, 2022. AVP, Utility and Oxygen Plant, JSHL, Mr Ashok Sharma and GM, Central Electrical, JSHL, Mr Sandeep Aggarwal received the award on behalf of the organization.
Lauding this important achievement, Senior Vice President, Manufacturing, JSHL, Mr Vijay Bindlish said, “Sustainability is an inherent value at JSHL. We firmly believe in adopting latest technology and optimising our processes to fulfill our energy conservation objectives. I congratulate the entire team at JSHL for continuously taking strides towards achieving sustainable goals and reducing harmful emissions.’
JSHL has adopted the ‘3 Es’ approach which relates energy and environment with production economics. The Company efficiently conserves energy to reduce the cost of manufacturing, thereby reducing Green House Gas (GHG) emissions. Over the last five years, JSHL has reduced its specific energy consumption by more than 11%, while reducing overall GHG emission by 21,362 metric tonnes per annum. Further, JSHL has set an organizational target to reduce its carbon emissions by 10% by 2025. Along with a keen focus on process improvements, the Company has augmented its energy conservation efforts by undertaking renewable energy measures like solar power plant installation.Last year, JSHL received significant awards in the field of energy and environment, including SEEM National Energy Management Award (Platinum category, steel sector), the Global Sustainability Award, and 22nd National Award for Excellence in Energy Management 2021 from CII.
