2021 brought back hope for a pandemic-ridden business world. The Indian stainless steel industry geared up, with Jindal Stainless leading from the front. Looking back at the year that went by, here are some of our stainless moments.
Combating COVID
An agile strategy on the operational and administrative fronts helped us keep the COVID situation far from worsening throughout the year. Although, the country witnessed immense drop in the virus spread, we continued to maintain the standard precautionary protocol diligently. Raising the rating bar
Jindal Stainless unlocked new ratings for its financial and operational performances across major rating agencies throughout the year. The Company maintained its efficient operations, higher-than-envisaged sales realizations and margins, and its expertise in value-added products. Prepping for an efficient stainless steel ecosystem
Jindal Stainless signed MoUs with government, industry and academia alike, in order to work towards a resourceful and well-equipped stainless steel ecosystem. Starting right at the grass-root level, the Company also continued to work towards up-skilling youth (in Asansol and Lucknow) in the fabrication of stainless steel, equipping them with the latest tools and techniques.
Expanding horizons
The Company touched another milestone with the commissioning of its 26,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) capacity Precision Strip Mill as part of the first phase of its latest brownfield expansion plan at its Hisar’s state-of-the-art Specialty Products Division (SPD). The total CapEx for this brownfield expansion is estimated at INR 450 crore over next two years under which JSHL will increase its total precision strip capacity to 60,000 tonnes per annum by the end of Q2FY23 and will also augment its blade steel capacity to 24,000 TPA.
Jindal Stainless ended the year with a boom by launching India’s first branded stainless steel chequered sheet ‘Infinity’; its second foray in the branded category after Jindal Saathi, the co-branded stainless steel pipes and tubes products.
