Dove’s new deodorant comes in a refillable stainless steel cases
April 20, 2021
Dove, one of the brands under the corporate giant Unilever, has introduced stainless steel containers in its deodorants in order to cut down on its plastic usage. The brand had pledged in 2019 to cut its use of virgin plastic in half by 2025 and to shrink plastic packaging in absolute terms by 100,000 metric tonnes. The new refillable stainless steel deodorant containers is an innovative step in this direction. The design uses 54% less plastic than the brand’s regular deodorant, and 98% of the plastic that it does use is recycled. Over time, it’s possible that the design may evolve to use no plastic at all.
