Musical stainless steel sculpture comes to life in California - Jindal Stainless

‘Chai’, an incredible stainless steel public art with a unique sound component was recently installed in Palo Alto, California. The four-story tower is covered in more than 5,000 red tiles and adorned with 18 polished stainless-steel musical pipes. This was created by Davenport-based artist Richard Deutsch. The sculpture is installed with transducers in 10 highly resonant locations on the pipes to amplify their sounds. A software, accessible by scanning a QR code, allows visitors to use their smartphones to play a variety of short musical tones and harmonies through the stainless steel sculpture. The arrangements that can be played are random, so it’s a different experience each time.
