Global stainless steel production increases in Q1 y-o-y

Global stainless steel production rose by 5.5% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 14.58 million tons, according to the worldstainless association. In Asia, excluding China and South Korea, production increased by 12.9% year- on-year but decreased by 5.2% quarter-on-quarter, totaling 1.84 million tons. Meanwhile, China’s production reached 8.58 million tons, marking a 2.1% year-on-year increase and a 4.5% quarter-on-quarter rise.
