May’s high-carbon ferrochrome price outlook
May 24, 2023
The Shanghai Metals Market predicts an upward trend in the prices of high-carbon ferrochrome, with retail prices expected to range between 9,000-9,300 yuan/mt (Cr50%). This rise is attributed to a significant increase in stainless steel production, projected to reach 3.15 million mt, thereby driving up the demand for ferrochrome. Initially, there were expectations of Tsingshan Group reducing its bid prices for high-carbon ferrochrome in May. However, the actual bid prices remained the same as in April, leading some ferrochrome plants to resume production.
