March witnesses a minor decline in high-carbon Ferrochrome production costs
April 23, 2023
In March, the production costs of high-carbon ferrochrome experienced a slight decline. By mid-April, the real-time costs of raw materials in Inner Mongolia had dropped to 8,929 yuan/mt (Cr50%), which is down 198 yuan/mt (Cr50%) or 2% on a monthly basis.
Although power tariffs in south China remained relatively stable, those in western Mongolia decreased to 0.45 yuan/kWh. Despite the decrease in high-carbon ferrochrome prices being greater than the cost reduction, producers were still operating at a loss.
